This group is from 2 1/2 years to 4 years. The ratio of staff to children is 1 staff to 8 children over 3 years old. Jess is our Pre-School Team Leader and is currently training for her NVQ Level 3.
Our pre-school work around our rolling rota. This ensures that they are moving around the various rooms in the nursery and accommodating different areas of development.
The pre-school are taught in themes appropriate to the early learning goals set out in the Foundation Stage. High priority is given to language, mathematics and social development as well as creative activities. Each child is treated as an individual and is assessed to his/her own capabilities and encouraged to develop at their own pace.
We offer FREE ‘settling in’ sessions whereby you attend the nursery with your child for an hour long period to see how your child fits in and to meet the member of staff from the room who will be responsible.
A daily sheet is provided for each child every day recording:
Amounts of food and drink taken
Activities
And who has been looking after your child
So you are aware of what your child has been doing each day at nursery. A member of staff is always on hand if you have any questions or queries to ask.
All children also have their own store box, this is for them to store their pictures they have made and any toys or soothers from home. All children are encouraged to use their coat peg and boxes themselves.
